There must have been cases in which you wished you had a dictionary at hand. Whether you were reading an interesting, but complicated book or writing a paper, you needed a dictionary to access instantly.

Dictionary.com launched its very own app that packs a dictionary filled with words, meanings, synonyms and much more.

Easily look up words in this intuitive app

The GUI is truly uncomplicated and easy-to-use. Simply type in the word you wish to find and let the app do the rest. It will provide you with definitions of words, together with phonetics and spelling and synonyms.

The respective word is used in sentences to make you understand its meaning easier. There's also information on the origin and grammar tips.However, these features are normal for such an app.

But Dictionary.com has much more to offer. It displays a list of your favorite and most recent looked up words, together with the word of the day section that comes with images. In addition, there's a section with trending words and those looked up by people near your location. The app also works on Android Wear devices.

Translator and slideshows

Once you've found the meaning of the word, you can check out the translation section. Type in a word or text and let the app translate it into whichever language you'd like, even Hebrew.

Granted, said translations aren't the most accurate, but it'll help you understand the meaning of sentences in a foreign language, which is enough in some cases.Another great thing about this app is that it comes with access to the dictionary.com blog, filled with interesting content related to the literary world and writing in general.

There are also slideshows with fun and interesting facts about words in the English dictionary. And if that's not enough, the app's content is also available offline. Now, you can literary take your dictionary everywhere you go.
