Amazon Photos 3.9.0.0.2635g
Amazon Photos is one of those apps, it comes with storage and some features that you can use. However, it's not quite what it seems, the app misbehaves sometimes and you need to buy storage in order to be able to upload your own content.
Simplistic interface with nothing special about it
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, it simply launches with the registration page letting users sign in to their own account. If you don't have an Amazon account, you'll need to access https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/home on your computer, because you won't be able to register from the app.
This is quite inconvenient, considering that some similar applications offer the same features on their Android and PC versions, specifically because you don't always have access to a computer in order to make some minor edits to your account.
Subscribe to the service
The app focuses mainly on letting users upload media files, specifically pictures. The app doesn't mention the amount of storage available. Again, users would have to access the PC version and start a 3 month free trial for one of the two subscriptions available.
If you wish to buy space, you can pay 11.99$ per year for unlimited photos plus 5 GB of videos. You can also pay 59.99$ and get unlimited storage for uploading photos and videos. The app simply refuses to upload pictures unless you buy a subscription or start a free trial.
Upload content
We've come across quite a few apps that offer free online storage and we can say that Amazon Photos uploads files slower than many of them. It has a side menu for checking out files and it arranges your photos into albums. The app isn't coordinated with the desktop version, the view storage section doesn't display any information which means that it won't be able to tell you how much space is left.
Therefore, it's better if you don't enable the auto-save feature and don't let your phone automatically sync pictures with your Amazon account. Other than that, the interface is pretty bare, it doesn't have any additional features or tools that you could use.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface is quite simplistic, it doesn't use material design but it has a side menu and some settings. |
Function5
It takes a lot to upload files, it crashes at times, users can't register directly from the app and you need to subscribe in the desktop version to make the app work. |
Security9
It needs few permissions from your phone, so you don't have to worry about privacy issues. |
Battery5
Consumption is a bit high, even if auto-save is disabled so keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price4
It doesn't specify that it comes with in-app purchases, but unless you subscribe you can't use the app at all. |
Compatibility8
It works with devices running Android version 2.3.3 or later, making the app accessible to many users. |
It has many flaws, you might be better off using another online storage service.
