Adobe Reader

Read, annotate, organize and share PDF files with ease
Created to facilitate document sharing, the PDF format has become a de facto standard for fixed-form electronic documents. As the format was developed by Adobe, their dedicated reader is naturally the first choice that comes to mind when looking for a PDF viewer. And Adobe Reader doesn’t disappoint.

Easy-to-use GUI packed with many features

Adobe Reader sports a clean and carefully designed interface optimized for both smartphones and tablets. After starting the app, the first thing you'll see is the list of recent documents from where you can quickly continue your reading session from where you left off.

To help you to easily get started, Adobe Reader automatically scans your local storage for PDF files. If, for some reason, the document you were looking for isn't found, the built-in file explorer will help you navigate to the folder where it resides. And, while we're at it, the file explorer isn't simply a browser, but also a manager. With it, you can create folders, move PDFs around, rename files and delete no longer needed documents.

Many options for viewing documents

In terms of performance, Adobe Reader does a good job and it takes the app very little time to open a PDF. Navigating through a document is very fast, you can quickly go to a specific page by typing in the page number, browsing the table of contents or moving the slider of the bottom, the last option also offering page previews. You can also bookmark individual pages in case you want to quickly find them later.

Documents can be visualized in different modes, including continuous, single page and text reflow. The last mode is especially helpful when reading on a small screen. To provide a comfortable reading experience, the app allows you to zoom in using pinch gestures and there is also an option to keep the screen from automatically dimming. If you're reading at night, a viewing mode created just for that can help reduce eye strain.

Besides viewing features, Adobe reader also includes a selection of document editing tools. These allow you to add annotations, emphasize text, as well as draw with different colors and pen sizes.

If you want to share your documents with others, you can quickly do it from within the app. And, with built-in printing capabilities, you can create hard copies of your PDFs using Google Cloud Print. In case you have an Acrobat.com account, you can even upload your documents to the cloud and sync them across all your mobile devices and desktop computers.
