record sound 2.0.0.3
For Windows Phone owners the problem is easy to solve by enlisting the help of one of the many utilities available on the market. One of them is record sound and the name pretty much says all about its purpose.
Smooth and easy to use GUI
This application has a pretty well designed interface, for both the home screen where the recordings are made and also for the storage area of the captured audio files.
The nice looking background image and the clear graphics make it easy for you to read the info displayed in any section of the app. Also, going from one module into another is smooth and without delays.
There is, nonetheless, a quite noticeable drawback, namely the presence of some flashing ad banners that appear almost in the middle of the screen and keep on changing.
Quick recording and automatic saving
The main advantage of record sound is the ease of use and this becomes evident from the first use, as all you have to do in order to start the audio capture is tap on the image displayed inside the main screen.
In order to stop the recording, press one more time on the same icon and the sound file will be stored inside the app's local storage on the spot.
There is no limit regarding the length of the captured audio, so as long as you have enough free space on the phone, you can make really long recordings.
Play and export captured tracks
To check out the captured tracks you will need to pay a visit to the "File" module, where all the recorded sounds are stored. The order is pretty intuitive, with the latest additions shown toeards the end of the list.
With a tap on any of the contained files you will activate the 3 buttons that allow you to play the audio, delete the item or transfer the recording to your song library, so you will no longer need to open the app to access that sound file.
The controls when listening to the captured audio are very basic and you have at your disposal only the "Play", "Pause" and "Stop" functions, while a simple bar shows you the playback progress.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The appearance of this app is decent, with a neat looking background and graphics, but also having some annoying ad banners inside. |
Function6
The utility saves the recordings automatically and allows you to transfer them to the music library, but it cannot send them to a cloud account or rename the files. |
Security5
The application will require access to quite a few sensitive areas of the system and most of them are not related to its actual functionality. |
Battery4
With a power consumption constantly on the rise, record sound constantly drains the handset's battery. |
Price9
Despite the ads, this application offers a simple and free alternative for those looking for a simple means of recording sound using their phone. |
Compatibility9
The utility is built to run on the more modern handsets as it requires Windows Phone 8 and above to work well. |
