Simple and easy to use front-end
The application focuses on practicality more than on good looks, so it comes with a really functional GUI, in which everything is kept neatly organized.
The app tiles are made available form the main screen and going through the few sections of the utility is relatively fluent, without lags or other types of faults.
There is a downside you will notice pretty fast and it pertains to the presence of some advertisement banners that seem to be glued to the bottom part of the screens in which they appear.
Set an access pattern and customize it anytime
Smart App Lock comes with a better alternative to the regular password-based approach as it uses the pattern authentication.
From the first run you will be prompted to draw the desired shape then confirm it and this will be the universal access key to all the locked applications. This pattern can be changed any time you see fit by paying a short visit in the appropriate section of the "Options" area.
The utility is able to secure the access only for the apps that are installed onto the phone and for which you create a shortcut by selecting the respective tile from the main screen. Opening those utilities from the Windows Phone list will still be possible, as the app cannot protect them in there as well due to OS limitations.
Pin apps to the Start screen and view access logs
With a single tap you can add any of the tiles listed inside Smart App Lock and then use that specific tile to access the corresponding application in order to make use of the safe pattern login.
A handy feature of this app is the ability to keep a record of the successful attempts to open the utilities under its protective veil, but it would be even more useful if the failed tries would be listed in there as well.
