For those who are interested in finding out just how noisy their office space or how quiet their home really is, there are some apps that use the hardware of the mobile device to make these measurements and one of these tools, made for Windows Phone handsets is Noise Meter.
Basic GUI with a friendly look
The appearance of this utility is pretty decent, with fair graphics and a clean layout, in which each element has its own distinct place, so the functions are easy to access and the results quite visible.
The display is very responsive and you will receive real-time updates regarding the detected noise level, since the meter is continuously adjusting as it makes the measurements.
Inside the summary section you will have at your disposal a map view for the detected location and the information will be loaded in full after a couple of seconds.
Quick and precise noise detection
The application is always ready to start measuring the environmental noise and you can trigger the action with one tap on the "Start" button.
The interval required for the evaluation is rather short, 10 seconds to be more precise and as soon as the procedure is complete, you will see the result in the corresponding box shown in the lower right side of the main screen.
After the proceedings come to an end, the meter will also remain still and in order to have it return to the live measuring state, simply use the "Reset" function in the upper left corner.
Map localization and noise level evaluation
Noise Meter offers a summary of the measurements inside a separate screen, where you have the aforementioned map and also the average value that resulted after the sound measurements.
The computed indicator is also accompanied by a rating that takes into consideration several noise levels and if a threshold is exceeded the appraisal is adjusted accordingly.
