One of the specialized utilities of this kind that comes with some extra features to provide a more complete package is suggestively called Music player, but there is more to it than meets the eye.

Appealing interface, with an easy to use layout

This particular application has a very nice looking GUI, with a splendid background and some really inspired graphics that are consistent from end to end. There are just a few customizations you can make to the front-end by picking a different accent color and another backgorund image.

The content is kept neatly structured under several relevant categories, so as to make it a lot easier for you to locate the songs, artists or albums you have in your collection.

Going from one section of the application into another or browsing the lists of music tracks and search results is very smooth and without noticeable delays, which makes the whole experience a lot more pleasant.

Simple playback controls at a glance

Music player is equipped with all the basic commands any app of this kind should have, more precisely it features a play/pause button, two others for moving to the next or previous track and, as a bonus, shuffle and repeat controls are also included in the package.

Unfortunately you cannot move back and forth inside the playing track, but you can see the remaining and elapsed time for each track as well as cover art, where it is available. The search feature is well implemented and can be of real help when you need to look for a specific song, artist or album.

Sound recording for karaoke aficionados

A neat ability of this application is the built-in karaoke recorder that makes it possible for you to record your voice as you sing over a song that is played back by Music player.

The controls are very simple and easy to work with, so all you have to do is tap "Play", then press the recording button and start singing. Once the audio capture is complete, you can save it locally, to your music collection or upload it to your OneDrive account.

There is a dedicated area inside Music player where you can view the recordings, play them back or delete them and there is even an option to have each of these files pinned to the Start screen for an even more convenient access.
