Health Monitor Free 1.4.1.0
One of the applications that relies a lot on numbers but also on practical advice is Health Monitor Free and it will surely prove useful for at least a couple of tasks it is prepared for.
Friendly and easy to use front-end
The layout of this app is quite simple and meant to ensure an effortless usage, but the graphics are not completely left out of the general picture. Thus, the nice backgrounds and clean visuals are carefully designed to be in tune with the purpose of the utility.
Moving among the various sections of the application and browsing the instructions and explanation pages that are included in some modules is very fluent. The downside from the visual perspective is the presence of numerous advertisements that are shown as flashing banners or even in full screen.
Body Mass Index and Waist/Hip Ratio calculations on the fly
Health Monitor Free has two main sections and each of them hosts a dedicated calculator that will help you assess your health state based on some precise measurements.
The WHR (Waist/Hip Ratio) calculator is ready to receive input expressed only in Imperial units, in inches more precisely and it will compute with a single tap the proportion then display a message that is suggestive for the interpretation of the result.
The BMI calculator supports Metric and Imperial units and is just as easy to use and prompt in displaying the evaluation. For both sections there are some extra modules that explain how to make the measurements for the WHR tool or how the calculation formula is used and what each classification means in the case of the BMI utility.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The looks of the app are quite nice and the content seems well organized, but the abundance of adverts that come in various shapes and sizes takes away quite a bit of the good feel of the whole experience. |
Function3
The name seems deceiving because the app offers merely two calculators and a bit of explanations on how to interpret results and make accurate measurements. The lack of support for Metric units in the WHR calculator also takes away some points. |
Security9
The utility is fairly discreet as it only needs to access the music library and media playback component for some reason. |
Battery6
This application needs a significant amount of power to function well and the battery usage records high levels throughout its run time. |
Price5
Even if the tool is free of cost, the drawbacks it has are too many to allow it to gain too much value, especially if compared to other freebies. |
Compatibility8
Tailored for use on Windows Phone 8 and above, Health Monitor Free doesn't have any special requirements and will work on any device with a minimum screen resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. |
