Among the plethora of dedicated utilities that are available in the Windows Phone Store, Flashlight-X distinguishes itself by the capabilities and features offered to its users.
Clean GUI for optimal visibility and accessibility
A friendly and easy to read interface greets you from the first use, but so will the in-app advertisements that come in the form of some flashing banners and follow you everywhere you go, as they seem to be glued to the bottom of the screen. There are also some episodic prompts to rate the utility, but, fortunately, these can be disabled.
The graphics have a polished look throughout the application, while the commands are all placed neatly at hand in order to be easy to reach and use. In the main screen Flashlight-X also provides some extra information inside two generous boxes, with the data contained in those areas being updated permanently.
Customizable flashlight abilities
The main feature of the app is to help you illuminate everything around you and it succeeds in doing so by being able to light up in the same time the camera flash on the back of the phone, as well as the entire screen of the device, if both are necessary.
The ability to choose a different color for the full screen illumination and to dim the light can also make for a pleasant visual effect, while the S.O.S. function can be of great help for anyone as it activates the flashing light to transmit the universal distress signal.
Useful extra functions at a glance
To help you find your way in case you are lost, the built-in compass shown in the lower side of the screen will lead you back to safety, thanks to its pinpoint accuracy in displaying the cardinal points and the deviation from North, expressed in degrees.
There is also a battery meter shown next to the compass inside Flashlight-X and this feature is meantto let you know how much time you have left until the power runs out completely and you need to plug in the battery charger.
