Black and White FX 1.1.0.1
For those who are only looking for some simple and cool looking filters to apply onto the images as they are captured and thus no longer needing to edit the pics after they are taken, Black and White FX offers a pretty neat perspective.
Uncomplicated interface, focused on for fast and effortless use
The looks of this application are decent, without standing out through any visually appealing elements of graphical design. The GUI consists mostly of the live view from the main camera and you have at your disposal a preview of the captured snapshot for a couple of seconds.
Despite the simple layout, with the main commands hosted in the main menu displayed in the right side of the screen as the app appears in landscape mode, the portrait orientation adjustment is not supported and the front-end does not adapt to it automatically.
After the first launch of the application, there will be some startup prompts that begin to appear every time the utility is initialized and they ask you to rate and review Black and White FX.
One tap to capture nice photos with a vintage look
There are no complex configurations to be made by hand in the live view or from a settings menu, so you have just one thing to do and that is to hold the phone steady and press the "Take picture" button hosted in the main menu of the app.
This utility is also able to capture snapshots if you tap the screen and it will take care of the focus adjustments on its own and the camera flash is also controlled without you having to activate it.
A downside of this mode of operation is that you have no control over the camera settings nor on the output location, as Black and White FX sends all the images it takes directly into the "Camera Roll" folder.
Fortunately, the image quality is very good and even if the processing will need a few seconds for each capture, it is well worth waiting because the look you will obtain is that of the old photographs made back in the days when colored film was not used on a large scale.
