Yonder 3.0

If you’re the outdoorsy type then you’re certainly always planning on a new trip to a corner of the country, or the world. Whatever your go-to sport is, there’s always something you can do out in the nature.

Yonder is an app that caters to people who like to be outside, constantly moving. As you launch the app, you’ll get asked what exactly is it that you like doing, varying from backpacking, to biking, to camping, hiking, horseback riding, sailing, surfing, walking or yoga, to name just a few. You can even just skip this whole step and tap the “I love it all” button at the top and everything will get selected for you.

The app requires that you sign in for an account. You can either do that with an email address or use Facebook’s social login feature and just skip the entire process of filling in the address, password and a user name for everyone to see.

Based on your interests and location, Yonder will suggest a few people to follow. You can either just go with the flow or check them all out and see if you want to actually follow them all. Your feed will then be filled with pictures they’ve taken or places they’ve traveled to.

The app will also suggest some cool places to visit, where you can take on one or more of the sports you said you enjoyed. If you swipe these to the left you’ll be able to share them with the world, view their location, flag them and more.

You can, of course, add your own content to Yonder either by snapping a picture or going through the photos on your phone.

What's cool near you

The app will let you know whether there’s anything you can do in the area you’re currently in, browsing experiences and places based on your location. If you’re only just planning to go on a trip, you can pan out of the map, move to the location you’re heading towards and have the app explore that particular area.

The app will display all experiences or places, depending on your choice, that have been tagged in that particular area. You can check these out by tapping on them. You’ll notice any likes the pictures may have gotten, as well as any comments. For places, things are similar, but they’re a bit more organized. You’ll be able to see whether anyone has “liked” the location, what kind of experiences you can partake in, get directions, visit websites when available and make calls to the area.

This is a pretty cool app if you’re into spending time outdoors.
