WoW Camera 2.3.1
WoW Camera is one such tool that doesn’t just allow you to edit pictures, but also to try out in real-time a series of effects and take the photo already modified.
When you launch the app, you’ll notice there are some additional buttons on the interface. You can easily control whether to enable flash, zoom in or set up a timer for five to ten seconds.
Plenty of options to choose from
There’s also a light blue arrow that will bring up a drawer once you click on it. Here, you’ll notice there are three ways you go with the pre-editing feature. On one hand, you can add up a “Magic Effect.” There are twelve of these, as the screen splits in four parts, continuing to display the original image in one of the screens. You can add a wave, spiral, mosaic, stretch and so on.
It’s also to use a color effect. Here, you have a lot more to choose from, going from the “simple” tinged screens, to shades of sepia and gray scales, as well as some more-cartoonish ones, such as “Sketch” and “Charcoal.” The last option you have is to thin out the picture, which is done with the help of a simple slider, and which looks… choppy, to say the last.
Edit your pictures
After you’ve taken the picture, there’s still more than can be done. The photo editing feature allows you to add stickers, text, to rotate, crop or add even more effects. The available stickers, however, make it seem like this is an app that’s best suited for kids – balloons, goofy eyeglasses, bowties and hairbands, cute wings, drawn hearts and so on.
The effects feature allows you to put even more spin on the picture you’ve taken, although that won’t necessarily make things better.
The bad thing about this app is that it was last updated back in 2012, which means that it hasn’t exactly been optimized for the latest iOS versions or the phones sporting them. This translated into Wow Camera crashing several times for us on iPhone 6 Plus.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
This looks like it could definitely use more work to make it relevant again |
Function7
Has some cool features, but you can find better on free apps that won’t limit the number of pictures you can take unless you pay |
Security9
No issues in this department |
Battery6
The app will eat up your battery, especially if you play around with it for more than 5 minutes |
Price6
WoW Camera lets you take 20 pictures for free, before having to pay $1,99 for the Pro Version. We’re not really convinced it’s worth it |
Compatibility7
Requires iOS 5.0 which is great for users of older versions. The fact that it was last updated back in 2012 makes it not so great for iOS 8 users or even iOS 7 |
This one has some cool features, but there are better tools out there
