Speedtest.net 3.4.1
Whether it’s for your own personal knowledge or another, more specific, purpose, knowing the Internet speed you’re depending on can be quite important. On one hand, you shouldn’t really take your provider’s word for granted when it tells you that you’re going to have access to a certain net speed, but rather to test it on your own.
Test with the best
Speedtest.net is one of the best known sites that analyzes your network speed for you and the site that tops the search results on Google when looking for a “net speed test.” Sure, maybe part of it is SEO, but another part of its ranking relies on its popularity.
Speedtes.net Mobile Speed Test is a mobile app that will help you get a response to this very question you have. The app doesn’t come with a complicated interface, but it does look particularly nice interface, with a bit of animation here and there; enough to keep things interesting.
As you launch the speed test, you’ll notice the app preparing the process, measuring the PING, the download speed and then the upload speed, all the while determining what provider you have a contract with, your internal and external IPs and the WiFi SSID.
The results are pretty well documented and extensive so you can get a lot of information from there, probably a lot more than the average user actually needs.
Fiddle with the settings
The app’s settings area will allow you to change your server or allow the app to automatically select it for you. It’s also possible to have the Internet speed displayed in Mbps or kB/s, depending on what you prefer.
The app is ad-supported, but the ads aren’t exactly obnoxious and they won’t interrupt your testing process. You can, however, remove them all, for a small price if you so desire.
Overall, this is a pretty great app that provides great information to those curious about their Internet speeds. It looks great, and it’s extremely speedy, with test lasting under 30 seconds. The app keeps a log of your sessions and you can share any of these with friends over text, email, or social media.
