PIX2 1.3.2

PIX2 lets you play around with a few filters and to add text to your photos
Playing around with the way your pictures look can be a fun pastime. Thankfully, nowadays, you don’t need to spend big bucks on Photoshop or have the skill to actually operate the software. No, instead, all you need is a mobile phone, an app and low expectations as to how the resulting picture will look like.

To sum it up, when you have an app that will only help you pretty up a picture with the help of filters, don’t expect the same level of artistry at the end.

Basic features

Pix2 is an app that’s quite nice, but it’s pretty basic in what it has to offer. To start things off, Pix2 asks for access to your camera and your photo archive. You can choose whether to view pics you’ve already taken from the albums or take a new shot with the camera and use that one instead.

Regardless of which way you go, the options are pretty much the same. You can crop the image, add filters and words and that’s about it. There is no way to control the brightness levels, the contrast or anything of the like.

Even so, you don’t have a lot of options. There are under 20 filters to work with and they’re not particularly spectacular. As a perk of this app, however, you can at the very least control the strength of the filter after applying it. If you don’t like it, you can change it, of course. Once you’re done, you just have to tap on the checkmark and add words if you so desire.

Preset text

The next step involves adding text to the photo. Don’t worry, the app doesn’t really let your creativity run free. Instead, you’ll need to be happy with the options presented to you. The list thankfully includes a lot more options than the filter one. In fact, there are plenty of options here that they’re arranged in categories, including Feeling, Climate, Now & Here, and Something. They vary from the classic “Keep Calm and Carry On” to single words and drawings. These can be moved to any location on the picture by dragging and dropping the text to the desired spot after making sure to press on the text for a few seconds.

All in all, Pix2 is a nice app, but it has nothing to impress users with. If you’re looking for a free tool to work on your photos, there are plenty of other options to choose from.

Editor's Review
GOOD

Even though it works fine, you’re probably better off trying another app if you’re looking for a few more tools to work with
