Everyone with a smartphone is a photographer these days, so image editing tools are quite popular since everyone wants to make them look better. While phone cameras have advanced technologically, they’re not going to return great results with no training, so it makes sense that users feel the need to make some improvements.

Lumis is a new photo editing app. While it may not be an alternative to Photoshop and the likes of it, it does bring out a few cool features.

To start things off, the app is extremely easy to work with, thanks to the intuitive interface. The tool allows users to either take new pictures while using it or to scan their Camera Roll and use pictures they’ve already taken.

Start editing

Once you’ve picked the image or taken the new shot, you start off by cropping it. You can pick between three options – square, 4 x 3 or 3 x 4 – and adjust the grid over the picture.

Then, you can move on to improving the way the photo looks. There are a few things you can do to make them prettier, including by adding stickers, filters, frames and some text. As far as the stickers go, you can download eight packs. So far, they’re free to download since the app is fresh, but they’re likely to be put behind a pay wall in the future. The packs include dozens of stickers, some cuter than others.

Once you pick one of them, you can move it on the picture with your finger and adjust its size and angle by pulling on the blue dot.

There are also a few filters you can play with, including Sunrise, Vintage, Ocean and Field. Then, it’s possible to add a frame to the image, which can be any color you want. There are a few swatches you can pick from, but you may also use the color picker.

Add some text

Lastly, the app lets you add text to the image. You can choose between a few font types and colors. Adjusting the size can be done the same as with the stickers.All images can be shared to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, as well as sent via email.

All in all, this is a cute new app that you should take for a spin and see if it fits your own personal needs and expectations.
