LinkedIn 8.6
If you’re serious about moving up in your career, then you’ll probably need to keep close tabs on your LinkedIn profile and the activity surrounding it.
Made by pros
LinkedIn looks amazingly polished and downright artistic. Its welcome screen is made of a collection of tips featuring fancy business-centric backgrounds, followed by the option to sign in or sign up.
All the steps are easily understood thanks to the cursive interface that takes the user through the motions at their own pace. Once logged in, the official LinkedIn UI appears with options to edit your profile, add connections, tweak settings, and even read LinkedIn Pulse.
LinkedIn’s app is designed to help you showcase your story for more work opportunities. You can edit your profile within the app, by using a simple guided editing experience. It’s possible to see who viewed you on the network, so that’s always useful to know who’s interested in you and what you do as a professional. In fact, you can view these individuals straight from the Notifications Center if you have already upgraded to iOS 8.
The UI could use a little more work in some areas, but overall it’s looks very elegant and professional.
Find your dream job or let it find you
With the LinkedIn app you can find your dream job, or it can fall from the sky. LinkedIn will recommend jobs based on your qualifications, and it will let you instantly apply for a position, or save the description for later viewing.
There are no ads in the app, but it will prompt you to review it from time to time. Also, the barebones LinkedIn app can be upgraded to various types of Premium subscriptions, some as expensive as $249.99 / €229.99. The iPad version expands to fill every pixel of the tablet’s screen, offering a spaced out experience.
Bottom line, the iOS app serves its purpose. You can instantly apply for jobs, or get notified of people who are interested in collaborating with you based on your expertise. There’s an inbox for messages, and the whole network is as social as any other. Only this one isn’t just fun and games.
