Infuse 3 3.0.2

Offers numerous ways to load videos onto the iDevice
Few media players have just the right amount of features to please everyone. People have mixed views about what a player should do, but most users agree that some features are vital to make such an app work well.

For example, getting content onto your device and into the player automatically without too much hassle. That’s something Android users don’t have to worry about, but iOS customers have always had to struggle with iTunes and other cumbersome methods. Not anymore.

Amazing design

Infuse not only works great but looks good too. Heavily inspired from iOS 7 (something Apple actually encourages), Infuse 2 is what should be the standard in media player designs. The controls are simple and efficient, the layout clean and spaced out, and the consistency (with iOS) among graphics and iconography is striking. Watch out for some high scores down below.

The one and only player you'll want

Infuse admittedly is a lot like VLC Player. Heck, it even uses a similar color theme. But it’s much better.

In addition to all of the supported formats and whatnot (which you can read about in the app’s official description), one key advantage this app has over other players is the massive array of options for getting content onto your iDevice: via browser, via FTP, via iTunes Sync, via File Sharing, via Other Apps (such as Dropbox with “open-in”), via Network Share, and others.

It plays a decent amount of formats in free mode, and even more with a paid subscription. You can integrate the app with your Trakt account, and you get to choose your own subtitles.Streaming is available to free users, too, which is obviously quite important, while it’s also possible to share synced files via AirDrop. Creating favorites for quick access to streamed folders is also an option, along with downloading or streaming synced files via HTTP.Infuse allows you to browse and play content stored on Wi-Fi hard drives, such as the Sandisk Connect, or the Seagate Wireless Plus, to name just a few.

The touch controls are also something worth mentioning. You swipe up and down for volume and left and right for progress through the movie. It’s efficient too, unlike in other players we’ve tested.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9

Featuring one of the best UIs we’ve seen on a player, Infuse 3 is all you need for movie watching on the go.

Function9

Few media players offer this many features free of charge. It’s better than VLC, and loading movies onto it is a breeze.

Security8

No security issues that we could discover in our testing, but there’s always some risk involved when it comes to this many ways of connecting to servers.

Battery6

Unfortunately Infuse drains copious amounts of power from both iPhone and iPad. It’s not abnormal for a video player to do that

Price9

Free with the option to upgrade to Pro with a paid subscription.

Compatibility9

Supports iOS 7 and up. It's optimized to run natively on all screens
