Evernote Scannable 1.0.2

Evernote Scannable saves any type of document you want
Keeping track of the many contracts, notes and other details you may jot down on a piece of paper is often difficult. There are tools out there, however, that seek to make your life easier by collecting everything you want. Evernote is one of those tools.

The devs behind the extremely popular app have created another one to make life easier for all users and even for those that don’t even use the original service – Evernote Scannable.

Scan all documents

This is an app that will serve as your phone scanning tool for anything you need – contracts, receipts, business cards and virtually any paper that you need to save for later.

Evernote Scannable has a really simple interface, which makes using that that much easier for everyone, even first-time users that have never handled such a tool before. The app will, obviously, need access to your phone’s camera so it can scan for whatever file you need.

It can find the document on its own and scan it to your device, or you can just take things into your own hands and tap the “manual” button and take a picture yourself. We found the app to be quite responsive to scanning documents on its own when it came to business cards, but not so much when it comes to handwritten notes.

In fact, when scanning business cards it worked quite well to determine the limits of the document and even to collect data from it. You can add profile photos and additional info to your Contacts list by using this app, including by linking it up with your LinkedIn account, which permits the app to collect data from there, too.

The advantages of manual scanning

If you’re going to do a manual scan the app lets you crop and rotate the file. Everything can be backed to the your Evernote account if you have one, or to export it to your phone. You can also send the file via email or message and to save it to your Camera Roll.

This is a pretty great app. While there are plenty of document scanning apps out there, there are few that offer as many options of Evernote does. Since the app has only been launched, it’s clear that there are plenty of things to fiddle with in the future and many improvements to be made and features to be added, which, frankly, is just fine with us.
