When you want to express yourself artistically you can pick up some paints, brushes and a pretty canvas and start painting whatever it is you’re imagining. Of course, that’s something that only certain people, with enough skill, can do well, so the rest of us that have troubles drawing a house that doesn’t look like it was made in second grade will have to resume ourselves to other solutions.

One of these solutions is Brushstroke, an iOS app that will turn your photographs into real works of art. Now that sounds better, doesn’t it? Basically, you’ll have to choose a picture from your Camera Roll or take a new one with your camera.

Start painting

You can then move on and turn the photograph into a masterpiece. There are a lot of painting styles that you can apply. You can just move on from one to the other and see which one fits your style more.

The next step that you can take advantage of will adjust the tone of your picture. Here, too, are a lot of options to choose from and you’ll just have to go through them all and see which one you like best.

Another element that influences the way a painting looks in the end is the canvas. For this purpose, the app provides you with a wide range of options, varying from textured to vintage to stone, wood and rock.

The last touch

The next step involves making some last adjustments by swiping your finger over the screen to adjust the intensity. In this manner you’ll be able to modify the brightness, contrast, saturation, density, vibrance, exposure, shadows, highlights, temperature, thickness, and sharpness.

Lastly, just like any artist would do, you can sign your piece of art. You will have to literally put your finger to the screen and sign your name, which will then get added to the painting. It’s possible to adjust its position.

The resulting work can be saved to the Camera Roll, shared to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, email or as SMS, or shipped as an actual painting. The latter happens for a price, of course. The prices are a bit steep, but art is worth it, right?
