Battery Power Free 1.1.0
Well, to be frank there are probably some even more useless than this one, but it really grinds our gears when we find these so-called utilities.
Good on the outside
As any such app, Battery Power Free looks pretty polished and well designed. That’s because it’s meant to trick you into thinking that you’re using some pro-level battery saving app that will expand your usage on a single charge. News flash: it doesn’t! In fact, no app can improve your iPhone’s battery life. Only you can manage the consumption, and you only need common sense for that.
Bad on the inside
Battery Power Free has three tabs at the bottom, each more useless than the other. The Status section gives you an estimate on how you’ll be able to use your device and for how long on your given charge. You can’t be sure it’s accurate, and our guess is it isn’t. No iPhone out there could ever play video 10 hours straight, yet this app begs to differ.
But the worst thing about it is its lying nature. It actually boasts that it comes free with no ads, yet the entire interface is an ad in and of itself, while at the same time it hides a mini app store for other titles by iHandy and, lo and behold there’s a running ad at the bottom as well.
Then comes the Maintenance Tab which is basically just a list of tips on how to charge your battery. At the end of the guide comes this big button that says “Upgrade to Pro” because that’s allegedly the only way you’ll benefit from the trickle charge thing. Don’t be fooled. You don’t need this app for that. Your phone can charge properly by itself without any assistance. In a nutshell, keep walking.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
Admittedly very nicely built and polished. It’s a shame that such pleasant design goes to waste on false advertising and scams. Yes, it’s a scam and you should know better. |
Function1
Nothing in this app is what we would call a “function.” It serves no real purpose, and since even the Status tab gives off very bad readings, we can’t in good faith recommend it for anyone. |
Security4
Its intrusive nature and the false advertising are enough to call the police on this one. You can well consider it a security issue when someone is trying to scam you into coughing up cash for a non-product. |
Battery1
Since it does nothing for your battery and actually helps drain it just because you wasted time launching it and using it, there’s no benefit whatsoever here. |
Price1
We’re not fans of apps that lie to their users. Especially those that lie to your face. |
Compatibility8
Does it really matter at this point? iOS 5 with no iPad version |
So, don't get this one
