As expected, major carrier Verizon Wireless confirmed that it has started the rollout of another OTA (over the air) update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, which brings a few new features and improvements.

The most important is Advanced Calling 2.0, which was previously confirmed by the Big Red. The new feature upgrades the already existent Advanced Calling, a VoLTE service with video calling support on select phones.

Advanced Calling 2.0 with Wi-Fi will allow two users with supported devices to use their Wi-Fi networks in places with weak cellular coverage.

For the time being, this new feature will only be available for those who own the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. As mentioned earlier, both users must have compatible smartphones for Advanced Calling 2.0 to work.

The good news is beginning early next year, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge users will be able to call iPhone owners via Advanced Calling 2.0.

But Advanced Calling 2.0 is not the only new feature included in the update. According to Verizon, the update should also enhance conference calling, and should add VoWiFi and UHQA (HiFi Audio).

Live Video Broadcast, App Edge will be implemented as well, along with an ALM fix. Also, a wireless charging issue should be addressed by this update, too. These changes are available for both Samsung high-end smartphones.
