The USB Type-C standard is slowly making its way into the mobile industry. After the new Apple MacBook with Retina display and Google Chromebook Pixel 2, the first smartphones boasting this type of port started appearing online.

Upcoming premium handsets like Galaxy Note 5 and OnePlus 2 have been tipped to launch with USB Type-C ports, but what if you don’t have the necessary cash at your disposal?

Well, semi-obscure Chinese device maker UMi has your back. The company has just rolled out the Hammer S, which is a super affordable smartphone model that comes with a USB Type-C port.

Apart from that, the Hammer S features a 5.5-inch display with an undisclosed resolution (hopefully it’s at least 720p) and a MediaTek MT6735 processor on the inside, together with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

On the back, we have a camera with dual-LED flash and there’s also a fingerprint sensor (of unknown capacity). It seems that fingerprint sensors are soon going to make their way into more affordable smartphones, as high-end models move towards the iris scanning standard.

Anyway, while the UMi Hammer S has already been announced, the phone won’t make it out into retail until August. The phone should arrive on store shelves with a super affordable $129 / €118 price tag.
