Samsung Pay will launch in a few days in the US

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 is going to get a huge update soon enough, following Google’s September 29 event, when the search giant will officially announce Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

But in the meantime, it’s time for smaller updates. The T-Mobile Galaxy Note5 is currently receiving a Samsung Pay update. The new build weighs just 30MB, so you shouldn’t expect to see any other tweaks or improvements become available for you.

What exactly has been updated in Samsung Pay remains to be seen as users under the carrier begin to bump their devices to the latest build, N920TUVU2COI5.

Samsung is gearing up to make Samsung Pay official in the US on September 28, so the current update is probably meant to pave the way. The new piece of software is now available for download on the Note5. All you need to do is head to Settings, select About Device, and finally go to Software update.

Samsung Pay is different from other mobile payment services because it works with most existing POS (point-of-sale) terminals thanks to the Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies included.

Samsung also announced partnerships with payment networks such as American Express Discover, MasterCard and Visa, as well as major banks like Bank of America, Chase, US Bank, and others.

Expect the service to be rolling out soon in the US.

It seems that the T-Mobile Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+ are also getting the same update.
