The folks behind one of the most popular keyboard applications, SwiftKey, have just released a new update for their Android app that brings lots of new features and improvements.

First of all, long-time SwiftKey users will be pleased to know that developers have added two new free festive holiday themes that they can use after updating to the latest version.

Also, the update introduces light and dark themed emoji panel, along with Double-Word Prediction, redesigned emoji panel and settings.

Some under-the-hood changes have been implemented as well, such as improved typing performance when changing screen orientation. The issue with vibration settings that won't change on upgrade has been fixed, too.

Developers are also saying that they have added improved Flow and predictions from characters accessed with the shift key (Indic and SE Asian languages). Pinyin for Taiwan Traditional Chinese has also been added.

Another improvement over the previous versions of SwiftKey is the fact that the emoji panel will now remember your last used category, so you won't have to browse through them once again.

You can now download SwiftKey for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind that the keyboard app comes with in-app purchases, but you can disable this feature from your device's settings.
