Have you ever owned or played with a Samsung Galaxy phone long enough and found that you particularly liked the proprietary S Health app which the Korean tech giant pre-installs on its devices?

Well, the good news is that the health tracking app has been made available for owners of any Android phone (provided you have Android 4.4 KitKat or above), not just Samsung’s. The S Health app is a piece of software that lets you keep track of your daily activities including measuring your heart rate, stress levels, calorie intake.

Samsung is also updating the app so that all phones after the Galaxy S III can take advantage of it. Maybe in the near future Samsung will make other apps available for the vast majority, but S Health is a start.

In related news, Samsung is also tackling messaging app waters, with the Socializer app that the company released not so long ago. The application is based on the “Telegram for Android” open-source project and it allows users to share and use web apps in the chat room without actually having to download them on their phone, thus saving up space.

The app makes use of the Social Web App Platform (SWAP) that helps create, distribute and share various apps via messenger.
