If you own one of these devices, you can try it out too

When Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Note5, one of the most amazing S Pen-related new features coming alongside it was the “Screen-off memo” function. This allows users of the phablet to take out their stylus and scribble on the display without turning it on.

Basically the phone doesn't have to launch the app and you can write directly on the black display. Seeing that the feature is so popular, the crafty folks at the xda-developers have managed to port the application to other Note devices, including the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy Note Edge.

What’s more, the feature seems to work with the recent Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge+ flagships as well, but since they don’t come with an S Pen out of the box, there’s no way to launch the application per se.

So if you’re rocking one of these Samsung devices and you’d like to take advantage of “Screen-off memo,” go ahead and visit xda-developers. You’ll be required to install the app’s APK file on your smartphone and go from there.

The application is virtually the same as the one running on the Galaxy Note5. The developer has retained the simplicity of the app and included the ability to add a new memo. He also changed some icons for simpler ones and revised the code a bit to make the app run faster.
