Google's Android OS allows users to root their smartphones and perform all sorts of hacks and tweaks. However, some manufacturers do restrict access to the device's bootloader, making it quite difficult to carry out a rooting process. OnePlus isn't one of them, as its handsets are known to be easy to root.

One of the main selling points of OnePlus smartphones is their ability to be rooted easily, as the devices come with an easy-to-unlock bootloader. TWRP has released its official version for the OnePlus 3, which makes it even easier to root.

TWRP allows users to carry out major hacks and tweaks to their smartphones, which vary from creating full backups to flashing ROMs. Such operations also enable users to improve the phone's performance or increase battery life. Nevertheless, users must be advised that such operations could affect the handset's hardware, so they should proceed with caution.

In order to unlock a OnePlus 3, users need to unlock developer options and allow OEM unlocks and USB debugging. Then they just need to write “fastboot devices” line and “fastboot oem unlock” in the command line.

Once that is completed, they can install TWRP for flashing recovery on the OnePlus 3. Afterward, the device should be ready for various hacks. The TWRP for the OnePlus 3 is available on the official TWRP website.

OnePlus is one of the few smartphone manufacturers who actually encourage users to root handsets, with the company providing warranty on an unlocked bootloader and rooted device, as long as the hardware wasn't affected.
