Even though LG reported quite strong smartphone sales in the United States, the handset maker's flagship smartphone, the G4, did not performed as well as expected.

A new report coming from South Korea claims that, due to the fact that sales of LG G4 in the first half of the year fell short of company's expectations, the handset maker is now looking for ways to expand its market share by launching additional premium smartphones.

Sources familiar with LG's plans claim the South Korean company will launch a “super premium phone” in the second half of 2015. In addition, LG is also determined to release many modified G4 models in the coming months.

It is said that Cho Jun Ho, president of LG Electronics, is now trying to find an appropriate time to release the company's new flagship smartphone, so that it avoids competing with Apple's iPhone 6s and Samsung's Galaxy Note 5.

There are no additional details on LG's upcoming “super premium phone,” though you can expect more info to emerge in the coming months.

LG is also said to be building one of Google's next Nexus smartphones, so it looks like the South Korean company will have a pretty busy H2 2015.
