According to recent news, Google is expected to publicly roll out Android Nougat 7.0 next month while the final Android Nougat Developer Preview has already been released earlier this month. However, it seems that a Nexus 6P user has somehow received an internal Android Nougat build.

A post on Reddit (via 9to5Google) reveals that user brianmoyano removed his Nexus 6P smartphone from the Android Beta Program because of battery issues. This would have meant that the user was set to receive a back update to Marshmallow.

Instead, he received a confidential internal OTA with an updated build of Android Nougat 7.0. The Android Nougat Developer Preview 5 had the version number NPD90G, with this internal version being NRD90M.

The user took screenshots revealing that the OTA was confidential and internal only. The images also show that New York Cheesecake was the working codename for Nougat. The internal build had a size of 49.5MB, and the user didn't see many major changes since it was a smaller update.

The Android N description that accompanies the OTA update was also slightly different from the beta program, which signals that Google might be releasing the public version soon.

Earlier today, we've reported that Google will be rolling out Android Nougat 7.0 next month to supported Nexus devices, specifically Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus 9G, Nexus Player, Pixel C, or General Mobile 4G (Android One) handsets. Two new Nexus phones, Sailfish and Marlin, are also expected to be released in the same period.
