It looks like Instagram developers have a nice surprise in store for its most dedicated Android users. The beta version of the application has just been updated with a brand-new feature that has been available on the iOS platform for quite some time now.

If you watched Apple's iPhone 6S launch event, then you might already be familiar with the 3D Touch features that the Cupertino-based company is so proud of.

With 3D Touch, users can use the peek feature to read an email or message without having to leave the application they currently have open.

Well, it looks like the new feature will be implemented into some Android applications as well. One of the first companies to introduce the “long press” peek feature to its Android app is Instagram.

Although it's only available in the beta version of Instagram, we can safely assume that it will make it to Google Play Store very soon.

The new feature will allow users to long-press on an item and peek on it when they are on a profile page or search menu of the updated Instagram beta application.

Also, Android users will be able to long press on thumbnails of photos and videos, and peek into whatever they have to show.

Even if you don't have access to the Instagram beta program for Android device, you can get the new feature by downloading the APK file and flashing it on your phone.
