Google's email application for Android and iOS devices, Inbox by Gmail, has been turned into an experimentation app, as the search giant likes to try out new features from time to time.

Initially available only by invitation, Inbox by Gmail is now available for everyone willing to give it a try since it's already been released in Google Play store and App Store.

From time to time, Google adds some improvements into the mix, just like the one today that should allow Inbox by Gmail users to reply easier and faster to some of their emails.

With the latest update for Inbox by Gmail, Google announced the addition of a new feature called Smart Reply. With Smart Reply, users will be able to answer to email with a short reply on their behalf with just one tap.

According to developers, “Smart Reply suggests up to three responses based on the emails you get. For those emails that only need a quick response, it can take care of the thinking and save precious time spent typing.

“And for those emails that require a bit more thought, it gives you a jump start so you can respond right away.”

This might sound easy in theory, but there's a lot going on under the app's hood, as Inbox by Gmail uses machine learning to recognize emails that need specific responses and to generate the natural language replies on the fly.
