BlackBerry announced on its blog that it just released an update to BBM for Android today, one that would bring some new features and bug fixes. The release includes lots of new additions to the BBM app for Android, which is available in the Play Store.

The new update to BBM for Android brings the option for users to share photos and even videos to Feeds using channel posts. Previous versions of this application only added text-based updates and posts to user feeds.

In order to share photos, users simply need to go to their feed, tap on the photo icon and give BBM permission to access the phone’s camera, then select an image, crop it, add a caption and share.

The new version introduces a BBM Game Center in the Discover menu, but only for users from Indonesia. The app offers access to various games that users can try, and they can even compete against their friends when playing.

Users from the same country can get BMM Pulsa/PLN and BBM Voucher in the Discover menu, while BlackBerry provided many user experience enhancements in the new update.

In addition, access to Airtime Nigeria options is available in the Discover menu for users from this specific country.

The application also comes with a 25-second default for timed messages, which gives recipients enough time to read or view messages. However, users can still choose between 1, 3, 5, 10 or 60 seconds.

Moreover, the scan barcode option is available in the main menu, so users can take photos of barcodes and QR codes.

BBM is available for iOS and Android, and earlier this year, BlackBerry made BBM Video available on both platforms in Asia-Pacific.
