14 DAY TRIAL // YouTube launched its Gaming service last month, as an alternative to Twitch, in the sense that it allowed users to stream content from their PCs and tune in for live streams. Well, today, YouTube has announced another interesting feature is coming right up.
Apparently, users will soon be able to stream directly from their Android phones, too. Given the fast-rising popularity of mobile gaming in Japan, YouTube has taken the opportunity to make this announcement during the Tokyo Game Show (as seen at Tech Radar).
On top of that, the video streaming company says that Japan is going to be the next country to receive a version of the YouTube gaming app.
“Japan’s mobile games define its gaming culture, far more so than in other countries. This trend shows there’s a real need for gamers to easily share what’s on their screen with the gaming community,” explains Ryan Wyatt, global head of YouTube Gaming.
For the time being, we were not given any more details on the matter, so we can’t share with you how exactly the Android streaming option will work and at what resolution the features will be supported. But more details will probably be made available soon enough.
This new addition will certainly help YouTube Gaming get the upper hand over Twitch. Albeit it already has a few aces up its sleeve, like the fact that you are able to rewind and go back during live streams.
