Chinese handset maker ZTE is determined to tap into the high-end smartphone and tablet business. Mostly known for its cheap budget-friendly Android devices, ZTE is about to launch an interesting top-tier tablet in the United States.

Showcased more than two months ago in China, the ZTE T98 with Android 3.2 Honeycomb on board and a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, has just been spotted at FCC by the folks over at Phandroid.

However, it looks like the tablet will be rebranded as ZTE V66 on its way to Verizon Wireless. According to the filed documents, the tablet features 4G LTE support, which points to an imminent release via Big Red.

Nothing else has been revealed at FCC, so we can only assume that this one will come with either a 1.2 GHz or a 1.5 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, as well as 1GB of RAM and 16GB onboard memory.
