Starting with March 15th, Japanese mobile phone users will be able to enjoy the features and capabilities of a new Sony handset on the airwaves of local wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo, namely the Xperia acro HD.

The new handset arrives on shelves as the Japan-friendly version of AT&T's Xperia ion smartphone. Thus, it will pack a variety of features specifically designed for that market.

The phone brings along a 4.3-inch HD touchscreen display, a 12.1-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a 1.3MP camera on the front for video calling, and a dual-core 1.5GHz application processor inside.

The new mobile phone also arrives in Japan with HDMI output, 16GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, 3G connectivity, and the like.

The handset will be released in four color versions, namely Aqua, Black, Ceramic and Sakura.
