A new software update is now available for download for the owners of Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra smartphones out there, namely firmware version 14.1.B.0.471.

The new release is based on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and is the first update that Xperia Z Ultra is receiving from its manufacturer. The phone was launched with software version 14.1.B.0.461 loaded on top.

According to a recent article on Xperia Guide, the new firmware is currently rolling out to devices in Hong Kong and Malaysia, but should arrive in other markets as well in the not too distant future.

The update was pushed out soon after Sony started to deliver new software for other smartphones as well, including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, and Xperia ZR.

Users interested in updating their handset should be able to do so via a desktop PC, through the Sony PC Companion application.
