The smartphone should be officially announced on September 4

In September, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is expected to make official a new handset in the popular Xperia lineup, one that appears to have been confirmed with a 20.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

The smartphone made it to the headlines quite a few times before under the codename of Honami, and a recently spotted sample photo that emerged over on Picasa confirms not only its existence, but also the high-end camera on its back, rbmen notes.

Said photo was taken with the HSPA+ version of the phone, featuring model number C6902, EXIF data attached to it unveils. As XperiaBlog notes, the device was powered by firmware version 14.1.G.1.443_9_b600.

The photo was taken by Taylor Li, senior manager at Sony Mobile Taiwan. The handset is expected to go official on September 4 at the IFA 2013 trade fair in Berlin.
