NetApplications’ latest report shows that the OS actually lost ground

Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system has been gaining more ground on the smartphone OS market, some of the latest reports on the matter suggested, confirmed today by new data coming from Statcounter.

The mobile operating system is said to have enjoyed a small but steady growth since November last year, as WMPoweruser notes, yet it seems that its raise decelerated during the last month.

NetApplications, on the other hand, suggests that Microsoft’s platform actually lost ground during the last month. However, it seems that NetApplications is actually applying regional corrections to their raw numbers, which might have hurt Windows Phone overall.

With this data based on the Internet usage on smartphones, and with many Windows Phone devices being sold as entry-level handsets without data plans, the platform’s share might actually be higher.
