A new flavor of the Microsoft Weather App is now available for download for the owners of handsets running under the Windows Phone operating system.

Mike Battista, the developer behind the app, notes that users will now benefit from a series of new features, as well as from increased performance.

The software was updated to take advantage of Windows Phone 7.5 capabilities, such as background agents, secondary tiles, and FAS.

Basically, the app was reshaped to fit the needs of lower-spec’d devices that run under the Tango flavor of the platform.

“I encourage you to follow the same performance/UX principles demonstrated by this new Weather update. Following these principles will ensure your apps perform great regardless of the device,” Mike Battista notes.

Those who would like to download the new Microsoft Weather app for Windows Phone will find it in the Marketplace.
