Windows Phone 8 won't be all about the new hardware and better customization capabilities available for its users.

The platform will also have to offer better software, including an enhanced speech recognition engine, which will enable users have actual conversations with their devices, Microsoft announced.

Windows Phone 8 users will be able to launch apps, control them, perform searches, and do more through using voice, all without toughing the phone's screen.

Moreover, the platform will arrive with better VoIP support, which also translates into Skype integration into the address book

Microsoft has also integrated the Skype video calling into Windows Phone 8, and designed the platform so as to treat Skype calls as cellular communications.

Courtesy of Windows Phone 8's multitasking features, Skype and other VoIP applications will be able to work in the background. The feature will be made available to all developers of Windows Phone applications.
