Slowly but surely, the Windows Phone 8 General Distribution 3 (GDR3) platform release is making its way on WP8 smartphones out there, and is currently estimated to have been loaded on around 15 percent of them.

The info comes from AdDuplex’ Alan Mendelevich, who also unveiled that 12 of the most popular Windows Phone devices out there come from Nokia.

As WMPoweruser notes, the deployment of GDR3 kicked off back in November with the HTC 8X smartphone.

However, the update saw expanded availability only starting with the second week of January, when Nokia began deploying the Nokia Black update to its users.

With Nokia Black starting to emerge in more countries out there, and on more devices, it might not be too long before the aforementioned percentage increases (also, keep in mind that the info does not come from Microsoft themselves).
