Good news for WhatsApp Messenger fans, as the application might get major new features in the not so distant future. It appears that developers are already working on a backup feature for WhatsApp, though it’s not clear whether it will be added on all platforms.

The folks over at WMPoweruser have been tipped on a report by blog site Windowsteca, which mentions that the current beta version of WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone devices comes with a backup feature that allows users to save conversations and pictures on their SD card.

Keep in mind that WhatsApp Messenger already has a backup feature available, but the application only saves all the info on the phone’s memory.

No word on when exactly the new feature will be rolled out for the public, but we expect it to be available on all platforms. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
