The beta version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone is hard to come by since developers only accept a limited number of users into the program. However, those who have it, report on the new changes the developers are adding every time there's something worth mentioning.

This time WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone has been updated with a few new features that are meant to bring the application on par with its Android/iOS counterparts.

As WMPU points out, one of the major improvements included in the last update is the option to send MP3 files over WhatsApp. The bad news is these files can't be saved to the music folder.

Another important feature added via the latest update is the long-awaited read receipt toggle, which is now available in the Privacy menu, under Settings.

Developers also included some new animations when users send and open text and chat bubbles. Also, multi-select option has been added to the Chat list as well.

Apparently, some improvements to the application's performance have been implemented too, so hopefully, WhatsApp will now drain the phone's battery at a slower pace.

Obviously, you can't download this version of WhatsApp unless you have already been accepted into the beta, but at least we know what's coming.
