An updated version of the WeChat application is now up for grabs for the owners of Android-based devices, so as to provide users with a better experience than before.

WeChat was made available on Android as a messaging app that allows users to send text and voice messages and to make video calls while on the go, all for free.

The service already has over 300 million users worldwide, providing them with always-on availability, as well as with the reliability and privacy features they are looking for.

As part of the new release, users will be able to view chat messages in a larger view, all through simply double tapping on them. Moreover, the application will allow them to put text in images through pressing and holding the camera button when taking a photo.

Unfortunately, the team over at Tencent Technology hasn’t changed the application’s version, which means that you’ll find it up for grabs as version 5.2, the same as it has been since February 24.

Those who update the app will continue to enjoy instant messaging with group chats and animated smileys, along with walkie-talkie mode with up to 40 friends, push notifications, and the like.

You can download WeChat for Android from Softpedia today. The app is available with support for all Android 2.1 and up devices.
