In a surprising move, Indian OEM WickedLeak announced that it would offer customers who purchased its high-end Wammy Passion Z+ smartphone the possibility to upgrade its software to Android 4.4 KitKat.

The update will be pushed OTA (over-the-air) beginning January 14, fonearena reports. The Indian company also confirmed that the Wammy Passion Z+ would ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box beginning this week.

The Wammy Passion Z+ is packed with a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and sports a stunning 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, along with an enhanced 13-megapixel rear camera.

WickedLeak is probably the first Indian company that confirms an Android 4.4 KitKat update for one of its products. Hopefully, more Indian OEMs will offer the latest Android upgrade for their smartphones or at least to flagship devices. Stay tuned for more info on KitKat updates in India.
