Pre-loaded on the recently launched Motorola DROID RAZR and HTC Rezound, Backup Assistant Plus application has just been turned into a free cloud service.

The carrier announced it will start rolling out Backup Assistant Plus free cloud service to all its customers who want to save their contacts, multimedia files and emails.

Basically, Verizon Wireless provides 500 MB of free storage that can be used to backup pictures, video and music, contacts, as well as emails.

Obviously, the carrier can provide additional storage to those in need but for a small monthly fee that has yet to be announced.

Customers who own compatible devices can set their phones to automatically backup their personal data and then can access it from a phone, tablet, Web or a computer via Backup Assistant Plus.

According to Verizon, the Backup Assistant Plus will be pushed to more smartphones in the next few months.
