Valve has been trying to introduce more security features to its Steam application for mobile devices for quite a while now. The good news is that today the company has announced the availability of a new feature that should provide Steam users with more security over their accounts.

The so-called Steam Guard mobile authenticator is still in beta, so users who enable this feature are asked to provide their feedback in the next couple of weeks.

In order to benefit from the mobile authentication, Android and iOS users will need to download the Steam mobile application from Google Play store or App Store.

In addition, they will have to enable this feature by opening Steam Mobile app and log into their Steam accounts. Then, they need to head over to Steam Guard menu and choose how they wish to protect their account using various forms of Steam Guard.

From the options presented, they should select “Get Steam Guard codes from my phones.” It's also worth mentioning that users can choose to activate the Authentication using their phone number or by using their email account.

The moment the authenticator has been successfully added, users should receive email confirmations, and from that moment on, they will use the Steam Guard menu to see the current code they need to type in when they logging into their Steam accounts.
