Nokia X, the first Android-based smartphone coming from Nokia, was made available earlier this year with an affordable price tag attached to it, aimed mainly at users on a budget, and it has already registered success on various markets out there.

Furthermore, it appears that the owners of Nokia X handsets are interested in grabbing as many applications as possible on their devices, and that they are also hungry for consuming content.

According to a recent tweet coming from VideoLAN, the company behind one of the most popular media players out there, its mobile app has been downloaded more than 75,000 times on Nokia X devices.

“VLC on Nokia X has passed the 75k downloads bar, and more than half from India,” the team has announced on Twitter.

For those out of the loop, we should note that VLC for Android is still in a beta version at the moment, although it received an update yesterday, and that it might take a while before it reaches a stable release.

At the same time, we should say that Nokia X users do not have access to the official Google Play Store, and that they need to go to the Nokia Store to grab apps. VLC had to be ported to Nokia X to become available for them.
