It could arrive on the market as Galaxy Note "mini" version

A new unannounced mobile phone from Samsung has made an appearance in India, where the South Korean vendor has started testing it.

The handset was spotted on Zauba (which keeps track of imports and exports to and from the country), where it was mentioned with model number SM-P601 and with a screen of only 5.25 inches.

It seems rather strange that it features the same model number as Galaxy Tab 10.1, though chances are that Samsung was trying to hide it from curious eyes, and that this is indeed a smartphone.

In fact, the listing on Zauba clearly mentions that this is a Samsung mobile phone, and also puts a “mini” in its description. The device is listed with a value of Rs. 33,508 ($542 / €400).

Whether this will indeed prove to be a smaller version of Galaxy Note (as mynewmachine notes) or an entirely different device, it remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more on this.
