Twitter proudly announced more than a week ago that a major update for its Android application is available for download.

One of the most important new features introduced was push notifications for tweets. Basically, users can choose to receive notifications from all the people they follow anytime they tweet or retweet.

Developers also introduced the ability to see content previews, view images, play videos and more when they view tweet details with links to partner sites. However, this feature will be introduced gradually.

There were also improvements to search autocomplete for users, as well as lots graphics enhancements and bug fixes. Well, it looks like the latter did not really fix all the issues of the application, or it added a new one.

Some users complained their application crashed on upgrade, which is why Twitter delivered a small update that fixes this problem. Nothing else has been included in this update.

Twitter 3.3.1 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up. Check it out here.
